Leo Tolstoy

Leo Tolstoy 1828-1910) was a Russian writer considered by many to be one of the greatest writers of all time. His best-known works are ‘Anna Karenina’ and ‘War and Peace’.

I was drawn to type Leo Tolstoy because of the depth of wisdom in his eyes. I also loved trying to tackle the ambitious task of typing his long white beard, overgrown eyebrows, and deeply set and probing eyes. I loved reading passages from his novels and including them as background for his portrait. His writing contained timeless insight and wisdom that applies to the lives we lead and to the world we live in now; more than 100 years after his death.
